MTN Uganda Honors Mobile Internet Customers in Hoima

The Ugandan judiciary is on trial as it prepares for the hearing of a case in which wealthy Kampala businessman Desh Kananura is accused of brutally murdering his employee Badru Kateregga in cold blood on September 31, this 2012, Chimp Corps report.

The trial will also put to test law enforcement bodies’ neutrality and professionalism – especially police in cooperating with prosecution in tendering all the necessary evidence before court to enable it dispense justice without fear or favour.

This website will give an extensive live coverage of the court hearing which kicks off November 6 at Nakawa High Court in Kampala.

Desh, as he is fondly known by his peers, fled Uganda through Kenya to United Kingdom in 2012 following the killing of Kateregga, the poor bar attendant at his nightspot – Panamera Bar and Restaurant.

It is alleged the deceased was clobbered with a huge club on his head before bleeding to death.

Kateregga was accused of keeping shs30, 000 which he had received as a tip from a customer.

Moments before his death, Kateregga groaned in excruciating pain on the blood-soaked floor of the popular urban bar.

Prosecution contends that Desh together with four others including his brother Raymond Kananura, used blunt objects to take away Kateregga’s precious life.

Others are Cyrus Maganda, Samuel Muzulewa and Jacob Onyango.

After spending almost 5 years in exile, Kananura returned to Kampala on January 19 before being arrested by police.

He was remanded at Luzira Prison until February 2013 when he was released on bail.

Desh is being represented by lawyer Geoffrey Kandeebe Ntambirweki.

Justice Masalu Musene who is presiding over the case has since urged state prosecutor Samali Wakholi to provide evidence to Kandeebe to prepare a defence for his client.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, information pills Patrick Onyango has rubbished reports that a 2 and a half old baby boy in Nsambya Gogonya zone in Makindye division was sucked of blood by her mother leading to his death.

Onyango told journalists at CPS in Kampala that preliminary investigations had revealed that the minor identified as Joseph Kusasira might have died due to suffocation disputing allegations that it was killed by her mother.

“Despite having found one of the baby’s ears missing, here the baby might have suffocated to death according to the recent findings, ” Onyango assured the press.

Onyango noted that it is thought that the mother, Ester Nansubuga who is believed to be mentally ill slept on it since it was found lying dead on its stomach.

“This has been confirmed by the late’s grand mother, Dorothy Nansubuga who noted that she is the one who used to take care of the baby checking on it every night since her daughter is mentally ill.”

“The grandmother further reveals that she woke up at 4:00 am as usually to check on the baby but she noticed that he was quite and not crying; on checking, She realised that he had passed on and later called on the police.”

Onyango added that Police from Kabalagala harried and rescued the family from the angry mob who were planning to attack Nansubuga claiming that she had sucked blood from her baby.

“Nansubuga is currently detained at police and will soon be taken for medical examination to confirm whether she is mentally ill.”
MTN Uganda hosted its internet users in Hoima to a networking forum to recognize and appreciate their loyalty and dedication to the MTN Brand which has translated to high usage of their products and services over the years.

The forum was intended to avail a platform for MTN customers to interact and express their appreciation and voice out any other concerns on a one on one interface with MTN Officials so as to get first hand answers and solutions to their concerns.

In addition to this, pills MTN used the forum to update customers on current and future projects aimed at improving services.

The forum which took place at Hoima Resort Hotel on 31st October 2014 comes on the heels of the recently announced growth of MTN Uganda subscriber base to 10 million and continued increase in MTN Internet Users subscriber base across the entire country.

Available figures indicate that MTN Uganda has steadfastly widened its internet usage base with a significant subscriber growth of 124% increase vs2012.

This was supported by the increasing investment in Data Infrastructure 3G and 4G, approved Data Centers, and investments in the undersea cables of Eassy, WACs and SAT-3.

“We are extremely proud of our momentous subscriber base growth milestone but also much more elated by the significant growth in the internet usage across the country. The Chairman LC 5, Hoima District Hon.George Tinka applauded MTN for the forum adding that the gestures made the region feel appreciated and taken important. He also hailed MTN for the great services offered like the fastest Internet speeds, affordable call rates and Mobile Money services adding that they are contributing factors for fast business growth of Hoima and the South Western region generally. He also added that he has observed MTN’s customer centric approach which a good way of doing business.

Serwadda added that since MTN Uganda launched its Mobile Network operations in 1998 and since inception MTN’s cumulative investment has been in excess of UGX 1.7 Trillion.

In 2013, the company injected more than UGX 140 billion in upgrading the Network infrastructure and adding another 400Km of national fibre. By December 2013, MTN Uganda’s total Fibre infrastructure exceeded 5000km.
