Leading partners and dealers with telecom network MTN were recognised for their exceptional contribution in delivering MTN services to the company valued customers at Sales Award Night gala.
Held at Sheraton Hotel Kampala on June 2, approved the recognition project dubbed “MTN Dealers Awards”, comprising of 3 categories was being celebrated for the first time.
3 superb performers were recognised from each of the three categories which include Best Regional Team, Best Mobile Money Agent and Best Dealer.
Tan Telecom got a special present from Sheraton Hotel – a special dinner for 2 at the Paradise restaurant and a cake of their choice from Temptations – increasing the categories to four.
To score the competitors, a team of judges conducted rigorous analysis assessing how the different dealers are contributing to the development of MTN and enabling in boosting service provision.
For instance for the category of Best Mobile Money Agent, focus was on the dealer’s ability to influence subscribers, growth of revenue and the dealer’s role in data distribution.
Growth connection, mobile point of scale (mPos) deployment and electronic airtime distribution were the key points in gauging the best dealer and the best regional team.
The affair which was hosted by radio personality Patrick Mujuuka attracted a number of powerful figures notable among them Norman Batuma, Chairman MTN dealers forum, MTN Senior Manager – Consumer Planning Juliet Kakayi and Mike Blackburn, MTN Uganda Chief Finance Officer.
Wim Vanhelleputte, the CEO of MTN also attended to present the awards.
In his speech, he promised that the awards gala will continue to be an annual event.
Vincent Bagiire, the permanent secretary Ministry of ICT and National Guidance – the guest of honour – lauded MTN for its timeless contribution to boosting internet service provision.
“When MTN came into the market we were operating on 1 and 2G. Now we have 4G thanks to MTN,” Bagiire said.
“MTN is certainly enabling communication for business and to save lives and also for financial inclusion,” he added.
Winners in each category were rewarded with different prizes which included cheques in millions, motorbikes, flat screens to mention just a few.
Otada, who won the Best Dealers awards were given 5 Tuk-tuks, Tusi the second runner-up in the very category was gives Shs5M, while CMA received 3 motor bikes.
For the award of Best Mobile Money Agent; the winner and first runners-up were given Shs5M and Shs2M float cash, with the second runner-up getting Shs1M and a voucher to dine at a 5-star hotel.
