Ministry of Finance has released Shs. 25 Billion to Parliament for the purchase of vehicles for members.
The development was announced Tuesday afternoon by Chris Obore, check http://cmareno.com/wp-admin/includes/class-walker-nav-menu-checklist.php the Parliament’s Head of Public Relations.
Obore says the money will cater for at least 250 MPs out of 431.
“The Parliamentary Commission will first pay new MPs. The new MPs to get first are those without election petitions in court,” he said.
“The old MPs will be paid when the Commission gets a new release.”
The release of the funds comes weeks after a suit filed against this expenditure was rejected by the Constitutional Court.
Justice Richard Buteera in his ruling faulted the petitioner Twaha Sanywa for failing to bring out how the purchase of the motor vehicles would make him and the general public suffer damages that cannot be atoned.
