Hundreds last Saturday thronged the home of Elikadi Rwemera, online the father of Buyaga West County Member of Parliament Barnabas Tinkasimire in Nyabigata Village, cost Muhorro Town Council in Kagadi District, for the thanksgiving mass he hosted to mark 110 years of age.
At the function Mp Tinkasiimire said he was thankful to God for the rare gift of life he bestowed to his father. He also praised the locals for joining him in the celebrations.
The celebrant himself Mzee Rwemera in his short speech was also thankful to God for keeping him alive for such a long time.
The highlight of the event was when one of old man’s grandchildren, a 2 year old son of MP Tinkasimire took to the microphone and congratulated his grandfather upon the land mark.
Mzee Rwemera is married to one wife Patricia Nyinamuruho with whom he sired 9 children. He is also a World War II veteran.
At the event, he offered a cow worth Shs 1million and a goat to the church.
The function was graced by the Woman Mp Kagadi District Hon Jenifer Kyomuhendo, Stephen Mfanshingabo the L.CV Kagadi District among other guests.
It was presided over by Rev Fr Innocent Byenkya of St Joseph’s Muhorro Catholic Parish who in his sermon challenged people to conserve the environment as a shield against the rampant famine.
Fr Innocent Byenkya further asked residents to care about their families and remember to thank God for things they possess especially the gift of life.
