The Buyaga West Member of Parliament Hon. Barnabas Tinkasimire last week intervened and stopped a Kampala based tycoon’s plan to evict families settling on his claimed piece of land in Kayembe parish, more about Burora Sub County in Kagadi district.
The contested land measuring 862 hectares covers the villages of Kafene, medical Kayembe, Karambi, Kabasasi and parts Nyabundo A and B all in Burora sub-county.

Tinkasiiire also discovered that the tycoon had started compensating the affected families with small amounts of money, before giving them up to July to have left.
The MP advised the tycoon to seek payment from Government land fund but not tempering with residents who have settled on the disputed land for decades.
Meanwhile the woman member of parliament for Kagadi district Hon. Jennifer Kyomuhendo Mbabazi who also attended the meeting encouraged residents to work hard and focus on child education but not to be intimated by land grabbers.
However, Emanuel Rwamunono, a lawyer representing the accused Ntambara, told the meeting that the land belongs to his boss and that it is vacant.
