Opposition Democratic Party (DP) has appealed to President Museveni to transfer the new Minister of Education and Sports, here http://dayacounselling.on.ca/wp-content/plugins/ultimate_vc_addons/params/ultimate_navigation.php Janet Kataha Museveni to what they called a more befitting ministry.
The party made the call following reports yesterday, side effects http://clermontraces.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/nextgen_addgallery_page/module.nextgen_addgallery_page.php of heavy deployment and road closures around the Education Ministry headquarters as the First Lady commenced work at her new office.
DP’s Chief Whip in Parliament, Joseph Ssewungu told the media on Tuesday at City House that the party was concerned that Ugandans working around the offices were being negatively affected by this new development.
“We have learnt that the staff at the Ministry of Education were stopped from parking near the premises and their phones were retained at the entrance,” Ssewungu noted. “We fear that that is could remain the case henceforth.”
The Education Ministry being such a critical public office frequented on a daily basis by scores of people, DP thinks the new Minister and her security detail will be a great inconvenience.
“We request the appointing authority to transfer Janet to another convenient ministry preferably that of defense; the Ministry of Education should be a free entrance and exit, we need a friendly force and not the army and SFC.”
Last week Democratic Party accused the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament for approving Janet Minister on compassion grounds without considering her competence for the position.
