A day after High Court judge Patricia Wasswa ordered the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi to avail one of his subjects Male Mabirizi all details of the Mailo land in Buganda; two family members in Wampeewo, erectile Wakiso district have also rushed to the same court accusing the king of grabbing their land near Wampeewo playground.
In the Mabirizi case, information pills the Kabaka is being accused of illegally collecting ground rent from all occupants of the kingdom land.
The two family members Sarah Kasaali and Abeey Senyoga are suing the Kabaka together with Sitenda Sebalu, NRM’s former Kyadondo East MP contestant of illegally taking over management of the said playground.
The documents before court state that in 1954 when Kabaka Edward Muteesa was visiting his subjects in Wapeewo, the applicants’ family of the late Male Jackson was requested to provide part of their Kibanja to act as a parking lot for the people who were participating in the ceremony which they offered.
The same place was later let to Wampewo Primary School which transformed it into a standard playground, before the school vacated the ground after acquiring its own, giving Sebalu a chance to take over its management
Indeed recently, Ssebalu took over the management of the said playground to the extent of collecting revenue from it claiming it was leased to him by Buganda Land Board.
Now the administrators of late Male Jackson’s property and the plaintiffs want court to issue an injunction permanently restraining the Kabaka and Ssebalu from trespassing on the suit land and for declaration that the said land belongs to their late grandfather ; Male Jackson.
The Kabaka and Sebalu have been given 15 days to file their defence before Justice Ketra Katunguka can fix a hearing date.
