An irate mob on Tuesday evening lynched a primary school teacher who had just been released from prison.
William Mugisha, a resident of Ihunga Cell, Ikumba Sub County and a teacher at Ihunga primary school, was at around 4pm Tuesday, attacked at his home and killed by fellow residents.
Mugisha was arrested in December last year together with four others, on allegations that they murdered one John Byaruhanga, a fellow teacher at the same school.
These were remanded to Ndorwa Prison until Tuesday, 1st August 2017 when they were acquitted by court in Kabale over State’s lack of evidence.
The locals were apparently unhappy with the release.
A group of people raided the home of Mugisha, who was with one of his co-accused Robert Baliseke and started beating them.
Baliseke was rescued by police while Migisha did not make it.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional Police spokesman said they were hunting for the mob members to bring them to justice.
