Mkapa Calls for Objective Reporting as Inter-Burundi Dialogue Enters Day Three

The dialogue which resumed on Saturday May 21st is still underway at the Arusha International Conference Centre until Tuesday May 24th.

“The Facilitator urges both local and international media, http://centerforblackbelt.org/wp-includes/post.php as well as other organizations to report objectively on the ongoing Dialogue and calls on them to be partners in promoting peace and stability in Burundi, in tandem with the Facilitator’s mandate,” the statement read in part.

The dialogue is being attended by a number of stakeholders in Burundi including Government Officials, former Heads of State, the National Commission for Inter-Burundi Dialogue, Political Parties registered in Burundi, Civil Society Organizations, Faith Based Groups, Prominent Political Actors inside and outside Burundi, as well as Women and Youth Groups.

Among the foreign participants are Representatives from; the Diplomatic Community in Tanzania, United Nations, European Union, African Union, Special Envoys of the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, EAC Partner States among others.

Mkapa has confirmed that he will be able to meet all the stakeholders who were invited to attend and were not able to come due to various reasons.
