Miya Named Captain as Cranes Face Sudan Test

Fresh from claiming gold in the 2015 INBA Natural Universe Bodybuilding Championship, order Ugandan bodybuilder, Ivan Byekwaso has arrived in San Diego, California USA ready to challenge for the World Cup due November 6 and the Natural Bodybuilding Olympia championship which starts from 12th-15th November 2015.

Byekwaso settled for bronze in San Diego in November last year which he hopes to better the performance.

The 32-year old is expected to start training under the guidance of legendary Body Building coach, Lorenzo Gaspar from California USA who was voted INBA sport Coach of the Decade.

The superstar is accommodated at the famous La Quinta Hotel where he will be training thrice a week.

The trip is part of a sponsorship package from his sponsors Pemba Sports Africa.

Meanwhile, his manager Jackson Pemba has also revealed he will be travelling to USA later to support the Ugandans.

The winner and runners-up of Mr. Kampala, Mubarak Kizito and Robert Iga , are part of the travelling contingent.
2014/15 league’s most priced player, generic Farouk Miya has been handed the Uganda Cranes armband by head coach Milutin Micho ahead of the highly rated 2016 African Nations Championship qualifier against Sudan Falcons in Kampala on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking during Thursday’s training, cost Micho heaped praise on the ever-rising youngster, diagnosis exuding confidence that the Vipers ace will take the responsibility with seriousness.

“Miya has great qualities to pull together other members of the squad,” Micho said.

Miya takes over the captaincy from former SC Villa mid maestro, Hassan Waswa who has not been summoned in the squad.

Waswa steered the team past Tanzania in the second round qualifiers when Uganda emerged with a 4-1 aggregate victory.

The Serbian has also appointed KCCA FC midfielders Ivan Ntege and Joseph Ochaya as the first and second vice captains.

Match Update:

Sudan team arrived in the country on Wednesday currently hosted at the Grand Imperial hotel.

The team trained at the Legends Rugby grounds on Thursday and are expected to have a feel of the match day venue on Friday evening as mandated by Caf/Fufa rules.
