The Uganda Communication Commission, treatment UCC has lifted the ban it had slapped on Presidential advisor Tamale Mirundi’s appearance on television and radio, cure on conditions yet to be named.

The Commission has earlier last week issued a directive to all media houses not host the big-mouthed Mirundi on grounds that he was using the airwaves to attack people including top government officials.

It is now understood that Mirundi held talks with the Commission boss Eng Godfrey Mutabazi and undertook to tone down his onslaught.

While appearing on Top Radio on Monday evening in the weekly talk show ‘Okwatibwako’, patient Mirundi blamed people whom he referred to as Mafias, for misleading Engineer Mutabazi into taking action against him.

He also denied an audio clip which has been spreading on social media in which he is heard denouncing President Museveni and backing presidential candidate Hon Amama Mbabazi.

“I have been informed that there is a comedian who speaks exactly like me. He could be responsible for that clip or someone else. You remember that recently Andrew Mwenda and other people in State House forged a tape in which I purportedly abused the president,” he said.

On this issue, Mirundi vowed to discipline “all those mafias who are witch-hunting” him, adding that he knew them very well.

“They thought that when they forge this voice recording of me  abusing Engineer Mutabazi it would compel him to ban my programs for good, but that didn’t work.  While meeting with Mutabazi, I told him that when a woman gives birth by C-section and wakes up to find her twins in good health, all the pain goes away. I have been fighting to gain back my programs and I have got them. There is nothing else I hold against him.”

On the programme, Mirundi thanked a number of people who have helped him back on air, among them Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura.

“I have gained popularity and power among Ugandans because people themselves know that Mirundi is hard working when it comes to issues concerning the President. Even opposition members like me since I am the voice of wisdom in the government. I detect wrong things in the government.”

Speaking on abusing government institutions, Mirundi defended himself saying that some of these have neglected their duties and instead turned to exploiting poor Ugandans

“Everyone has his communication skills, I have never abused anybody. All institutions have contributed to their failures because once any institution sacrifices its duty of serving the people and turns to making money, it’s in its last days.”

Mirundi vowed to defend Mutabazi against what he described as “acts of extortion” by some unscrupulous members of the public.

“I will crush anybody who will come up with any plan aimed at blackmailing Mutabazi,” said Mirundi.
