Kakogoso informed police that he had given the said money to Ankunda, a village mate to deliver it to his mother but she decided to steal it.
Born in Masheruka, Sheema District, Kakogoso hails from Mbarara and owns many buildings including Liverpool house with stored rooms for sports betting around town.
Ankunda confirmed that Mwesigwa has been her longtime boyfriend since she joined campus but later broke up with him after some disagreements.
“Kakogoso was dating and sending me money but I later stopped our relationship because he was demanding sex abnormally,” she said.
Ankunda told ChimpReports they had been dating since she was in first year at campus and that Kakogoso was sending her mobile money to pay rent, buy food, clothes and plaiting her hair.
She says that after the breakup, the businessman turned around and demanded the money, claiming that it was meant for his mother.
“He used Governors Global Associates lawyers to claim that the money was a loan to pay in advance which I rejected.”
The Rwizi regional CID David Ibanda has asked the police officers to handle the case file carefully saying that police cannot accept being used by tycoons to act wrongly.
Ibanda said that many top bosses have taken up the trend warning that Police is ready to arrest anyone using young girls around town.
He advised university girls to know the kind of relationship and consequences with men they always ‘de-tooth’ money from.
The case was registered at Mbarara police station under SD 06/26/11/2016.
