The Milk Quality Regulatory Authority (MQRA) on Saturday impounded 3 trucks carrying an estimated 180000 liters of milk mixed with what they termed as toxic chemicals.
The trucks were seized on the Mbarara-Masaka high way while travelling to the capital Kampala.
The vehicles number UAK 411Z, adiposity http://colonialpropertygroup.com/components/com_k2/views/itemlist/tmpl/category.php UAX 3992Z and UAV 633Z are currently being held at Lyantonde police station.
MQRA Manager for the western region Agnes Baguma who headed the operation told Chimpreports that they took action after receiving information that farmers in the region were using chemicals to make the spoilt milk appear fresh.
The Dairy Development Authority (DDA) manager for the same region Stephen Arikiriza said this anomaly will have to be sternly dealt with and that the operation will be extended to other parts of the country.
The development comes only weeks after the High Court in Kampala lifted the ban on unprocessed milk from being sold in cities and municipalities around the country.
Arikiriza appealed the public join the authorities and report dairy farmers involved in lacing milk with chemicals.
