Mbarara: Residents Demostrate over Poor State of Roads

“We call upon all DP members and supporters to rally their support behind Mbabazi our joint presidential candidate. All members should begin mobilizing from the ground and carrying out campaigns for our candidate,” said the party spokesperson, Paul Kenneth Kakande on Tuesday while addressing a weekly press briefing.

Kakande told journalists at City House that their candidate is one that the country has for a long time been waiting for to bring about change in the country.

“It’s true Col Kizza Besigye has been winning elections but we feel Mbabazi knows the tricks of securing victory; this is not about running and failing but winning and securing victory,” Kkande said.

“We need a striker that can put the ball in the net; it’s not about appearing on a ballot paper but having your victory secured,” Kakande emphasized.

He also rubbished allegations that the DP party president Norbert Mao hijacked the duties of TDA chairperson and spokesperson by going ahead to declare Mbabazi as a joint candidate.

Kakande explained that the candidature of Amama Mbabazi as TDA flag bearer was a result of consensus reached by 8 TDA summit members minus Ken Lukyamuzi as an individual who supported Dr. Kizza Besigye.

DP, Go Forward Pro Change, People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Uganda Federal Alliance (UFA), Uganda Peoples’ Congress (UPC) of Dr. Olara Otunnu, Pressure for National Unity (PNU), JEEMA and Conservative Party (CP) all supported Amama Mbabazi to carry the TDA fag in the coming elections.

“We as DP are not hypocrites and will never be, FDC had already announced their candidate and we also had to announce our candidate as a way of popularizing him.”

Kakande called upon all DP members to prepare and join Mbabazi for nominations next week at Namboole as laid down in Electoral Commission elections road.

Mbarara Police on Monday arrested two bodaboda riders, tadalafil http://demibahagia2u.my/wp-includes/class-smtp.php and impounded three motor cycles following a demonstration by the residents of Katete, approved Mbarara Municipality over the poor state of the roads.

The demonstrators blamed the Municipality leaders for not working on the roads which are in a sorry state.

Speaking to our reporter, one of the demonstrators said the leaders only make promises while soliciting for votes yet they don’t take action.

” Instead of tarmacking the road, the authorities brought a tractor which raised dust and now we cant operate our businesses,” he said.

The police led by Richard Tamare, head of the Field Force police Unity (FFPU) dispersed the demonstrators and advised the crowd to take their pleas to the authorities instead of being rowdy in the streets.

“Closing the road is breaking the law. The police is not in charge of repairing the roads,” Tamare said, adding that demonstrating affects their businesses.

Responding to the state of the road, the Deputy Mayor who is also the area councilor, hajj Barius Issa urged the residents to be patient and promised that the road was going to be worked on.

” Materials have already been purchased and construction works will commence soon,” he said.
