Mbarara: Police Hunt for Toddler Killers

Police in Mbarara are investigating the murder of a 4 month old toddler by unknown people in Kababa cell, malady Nyakayojo division, Mbarara Municipality.

The deceased was daughter to Kenneth Muhumuza, 32, and Sarah Turyamwijuka, 30.

The mother says she left the baby in the visitors’ room and went to the banana plantation and upon returning home, the girl was missing.

The family members mounted a search only for the body to be discovered three hours later in a big bucket used to store water.

She says her other four children were away at school at the time of the incident.

Bosco Mutabazi the OC CID Mbarara police station told Chimpreports that police visited the scene and took the body to Mbarara referral hospital for post mortem, which indicated that it had been strangled to death.

Mutabazi warned parents to avoid leaving their children unattended to saying that several lives have been lost as a result of negligence on the side of parents.

He said that this was the second incident of the kind in 2 weeks.

Last week on Wednesday one year old   baby boy was stolen from home and later found dead in River Rwizi.

The mother to the deceased Justine Ayabere a resident of Kirehe cell Ruti Ward, in Nyamitanga division had reportedly left him alone in the house and gone to have fun in one of the clubs in Mbarara town.
