Mbarara: Jussy Buses Manager Gunned Down By Robbers

Police in Mbarara are hunting for assailants who attacked Kakiika township on a robbery mission and murdered one person and kidnapped two.

The three unidentified armed men attacked the home of Edward Bashurure in Kyamugorani Kakiika, web Mbarara at around 10pm yesterday and shot dead his neighbor, one Agaba Bright.

Agaba, a resident of Ishongororo in Ibanda district who was staying with his family in Mbarara, was the manager of Jussy and Poko Poko buses in Mbarara town.

The target Mr Bashurure is a known businessman who deals in timber. He says for the past months for security reasons, he has been keeping his car at Mbarara Police station, up until this week when Police rejected it. The attackers took it in the robbery.

On sounding an alarm as the assailants surrounded him, his neighbor Agaba rushed to help and was shot dead.

Residents at the scene said the assailants were armed with two guns and a hammer.

In escaping, they kidnapped two of Bashurure’s relatives Edwin Kanyesigye and one Ahimbisibwe who had come for a visit. They later dumped them in Kabwohe where police picked them back home.

One of the eyewitnesses at the scene said that on close observation he realized that the attackers were wearing what looked like police uniform.

Mbarara Police’s head of criminal investigations Taban Chiriga said that the assailants used a Bajaj Boxer Registration number UBU 517G to execute the mission and took off with Bashurure’s car and money  totaling to Shs 500,000.

The motorcycle was found abandoned in Kitagata, Sheema district.
