Mbarara: Bishop Preaches Hope to Cancer Patients

Bishop Ahimbisibwe made the call yesterday at the launch of this year’s Rotary Club cancer run in Mbarara. The run will take place on 28th August at Rwemiyenje Church of Uganda in Rwampara Constituency.

The bishop also urged relatives and friends of cancer patients to avoid weakening them with negativity.

Ugandans were also encouraged to always keep tabs with their health, since diseases like cancer are best cured when detected at an early stage.

“We have seen many cancer patients get cured completely; God is the author of life and is the one who decides on who will die,” he said.

The Bishop contributed UGX 500,000 towards the cancer run.

According to Rotary Club’s Mrs Lydia Bujara, proceeds from the cancer run will be used to buy a linear accelerator (LINAC) machine for Nsyambya Hospital. The machine is estimated at about $4million.

The initiative is also being supported by Centenary Bank.

Mrs Bujara says the cancer run will also be held Kyotera Rakai, Masaka, Gulu, Kabale, Lira, Kihihi, Hoima, Masindi and participants will be paying 20,000shs.
