Mbabazi’s Team Set to Respond to EC Following Foiled Soroti Rally

The representatives from Uganda will be part of the African Ministers of Energy and Finance that will meet at the two – day conference in Beinjing, China.

According to EnergyNet – the forum organizers, the conference will address the continent’s energy deficit and the critical requirement to connect those living without access to electricity.

This year’s Forum will also announce brand new, large-scale infrastructure and power projects with lucrative opportunities for foreign investors.

Reports show that 13% of the world’s population lives without electricity, versus 48% of the global population who live in Africa.

This important meeting partners with the China Africa Development Fund, who will be seeking new projects to receive some of the $5 billion under their management.

Africa’s largest bank, Standard Bank is the sponsor for the forum.

According to David Humphrey, Head of Infrastructure and Power, Standard Bank, the conference brings together some of the foremost figures in infrastructure, as well as key policymakers from Africa.

The meeting will be underpinned by 4 major infrastructure and power projects currently shaping Africa’s energy sector the likes of, the East to West Landbridge – LAPSSET Corridor, East African Standard Gauge Railways, Dry port development in Ghana and Unbundling of state utilities in Liberia as well as Gas-to-Power investment opportunities in Mozambique and South Africa.

Also present at the conference will be Hon, Henry Rotich, Cabinet Secretary for the Treasury in Kenya,  Matadi Atadi Nenga Gamanda, Minister of Energy and Water Resources, DR Congo, James Musoni, Minister of Infrastructure, Rwanda, and Silas Zimu, the Presidential Special Adviser on Energy, South Africa among others.
Presidential aspirant Hon Amama Mbabazi’s campaign team is set to address the public on the unprecedented turn of events where the former’s third rally that was slated for today in Soroti was foiled by police.

Reports from the Eastern district indicate that supporters of Mbabazi were blocked from accessing the venue where Mbabazi would address the masses later in the afternoon.

Hundreds of supporters had gathered at the Soroti Independence Square to welcome Mbabazi for the consultative meeting, dosage http://davepallone.com/old/wp-includes/atomlib.php but were locked out by police.

This is said to be on the orders of the Electoral Commission (EC) which is insistent that presidential aspirants are not authorized to hold public rallies but that they must only hold consultative meetings.

The campaign team through their lawyers of Fred Muwema and Company Advocates have called a press conference at their offices in Kololo to respond to the EC’s assertions.

“In light of the media utterances by our friends at the EC, page our legal team would like to respond to the accusations made and to answer any questions you may have about the same, view ” said Mbabazi’s publicist Ms Josephine Mayanja Nkangi.

Mbabazi on Monday successfully held a similar rally in Mbale before proceeding to Kapchorwa the next day for another public event during which he urged the electorate to support his 2016 presidential candidature.

Other Presidential aspirants including FDC’s Col Kizza Besigye and Gen Mugisha Muntu were cleared by the EC and they held their nationwide rallies which culminated in last week’s delegates conference in which the former was elected the party’s 2016 elections flag bearer.
