Azam Preseason tour
KCCA FC 1-1 Azam FC
Tanzanian giants Azam Football Club continued with their ten day preseason camp in Uganda with their second game.
After playing out a two all draw against Uganda Cranes on Tuesday, Azam FC returned to action on Thursday.
Taking on Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC at Star times stadium, the two sides settled for a one all draw at the end of the day.
A game decided by substitutes, KCCA FC got into the lead through Lawrence Bukenya but a stoppage time free kick from substitute Masoud Abdallah salvaged a point for Azam FC.
The game started on a snail’s pace and both sides were cagey failing to find the cutting edge in the final third.
Playing largely a second team and several players on trials, KCCA FC missed many starters that are on the national team held on Azam for the better part of the game.
Besides goalkeeper Charles Lukwago, Habib Kavuma, Saddam Juma and Tonny Mawejje starting the game as the experienced players, the rest were young players.
The visitors has a bigger share of the possession but failed to break down a composed KCCA FC with youngster Peter Magambo alias Machete playing very well at the heart of defence.
However it was second half substitute Lawrence Bukenya who broke the deadlock with a screamer in the 74th minute.
Daniel Amoah lost possession to youngster Julius Poloto who made a sole run on the left flank before laying up Bukenya.
Bukenya who had come on for Saddam Juma sent a thunderbolt just outside the area into the left corner of the net beyond a full stretched Razak Albarola.
However, after a series of attempts from free kicks, Azam finally hot one perfect in added time from substitute Masoud Abdallah.
Masoud curled a ball from a free kick beyond the KCCA FC player’s wall and it ricocheted off the base of the post before finding its way into the back of the net.
Azam continue their tour with a game against URA FC on Friday before taking on Onduparaka FC and Vipers on Sunday and Monday respectively.
