Buddu 0-0 Mawoggola
Defending champions Buddu started their title defence with a goalless stalemate against Mawoggola.
In the game watched by thousands of Buganda Kingdom faithfuls at the Masaka recreation ground on Saturday, link Buddu failed to break through a well structured Mawoggola side.
The game was watched by His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II who arrived at the ground amidst loud cheers companied by the Katikiro, Charles Peter Mayiga.
The visitors were reduced to ten men in the second half with Alex Vubya given marching orders for a second bookable offence by referee Rajab Bakasambe.
Buddu were dominant throughout the game making several attempts but failed to find the cutting edge.
As early as the 3rd minute, Mikidad Ssenyonga had an attempt from a free kick but goalkeeper Hamza Ssempijja was alert to save.
Mawoggola coach Brian Ssenyondo called for an early change withdrawing Matia Nsubuga for Moses Kasagga.
Buddu also withdrew debutant Julius Mugema and brought on Isaac Ogwang.
The visitors were reduced to ten men with Alex Vubya sent off in the 62nd minute after picking a second yellow card. He had earlier been booked in the 48th minute.
Despite playing with a man less, Mawoggola held on to pick a vital point off Buddu. The result means the two sides lead group B on one point apiece.
