Police in Masaka Town are trailing a group of unidentified assailants who early this morning shot and killed a local businessman.
35 year old Gideon Tusubira was killed by the attackers who found him at a bar that he owns.
Police described the assailants as ordinary robbers, order because they grabbed some money and a few other things they could carry from the bar.
The deceased was also a renowned tailor in Masaka town according to the regional police spokesperson SP Lamech Kigozi.
“He was shot dead by yet to be identified thugs at around 1:30 this morning. The killers also took with them an unspecified amount of money, cost three mobile phones and a DVD player, story ” Kigozi told us.
“We were able to recover a pistol cartridge at the murder scene; we are scanning the scene and also trailing the attackers.”
This year, the Greater Masaka region continues to be a hotbed of insecurity, having in the past weeks birthed a new wave of attacks involving machete wielding assailants, which has spread to other parts of the country.
