However, the bad run was brought to a half on Tuesday as the Luzira based side edged Bright stars 1-0 at the champions stadium, Mwererwe.

Maroons put up a spirited fight to stun Bright stars at one of the most intimidating grounds and condemned the Kawempe based team to their first loss this season.

Midfielder Felix Okot scored the lone strike with a powerful effort outside the area to hand Asaph Mwebaze’s charges maximum points.

There were limited chances in the opening 45 minutes with the Maroons backline proving resilient.

Upon restart, Nelson Senkatuka almost gave Bright stars the  lead but his effort ricocheted off the crossbar to deny him.

Fred Kajjoba who was returning from suspension made changes introducing Jjungu Methodius for Farouk Kawooya while Fred Segujja came on for debutant Henry Kiwanuka.

Felix Okot broke the deadlock in the 70th minute with a thunderous effort about 40 yards from goal and caught goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge off his line.

The prison warders played out their hearts in the final minutes to earn maximum points.

Maroons now move out of the relegation zone to 12th with 5 points while Bright stars drop to 7th place on six points
