Tanzania premier league defending champions Young Africans started their 2017 Mapinduzi cup tournament with a convincing 6-0 victory over Jamuhuri ya Pemba to lead group B.

Simon Msuva connected a corner just 19 minutes and his second in the 40th to supplement on Zimbabwean export Donald Ngoma’s brace to give the Tanzanians a 4 goal cushion at half time.

Thaban Kumasoka and Juma Mahadhi completed the rout with 59th and 85th minute strikes.

Earlier on the day, physician former champions Azam FC squeezed a 1-0 win over Zimamamoto. The two results mean Yanga lead their compatriots due to a superior goal difference.

Ugandan ambassadors URA FC will look to enhance their chances to reach semifinals when they take on Jangombe boys at 5pm before Simba SC face KVZ.

The tax collectors lead group A because of a better goal difference over Simba who also registered a win on match day one.
