Opposition Democratic Party (DP) president Norbert Mao has yielded to Pressure from several party members demanding for opening up contest of the position for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) representative.
The party had earlier announced that the National Executive Committee (NEC) had agreed to maintain the incumbent Fred Mukasa Mbidde as the party’s sole candidate.

“The deputy SG and his office have released a call for nomination and those interested should prepare to appear before NEC on Friday February 3.
According to the guidelines issued, each member must pay a nomination fee of Sh350000, having been an active party member for the last five years.
