DP President Norbert Mao

The Democratic Party President General, diagnosis http://continentalagra.com/wp-includes/class-wp-role.php Norbert Mao has said the state minister for Youth Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi is still an active member of the opposition party even when she accepted to serve in the National Resistance Movement government.

Mao on Sunday, http://coparmex.org.mx/wp-includes/class-walker-nav-menu.php stated on social media that the reports indicating that Nakiwala has been expelled by the leadership of the country’s oldest party are untrue and should be treated as rumors.

“I have read media reports that the Democratic Party has expelled Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi. As President and Chief Executive of DP I wish to categorically denounce those reports as false, malicious and baseless,” he stated.

Mao who is a professional lawyer stressed that if any action is to be taken against Nakiwala, it is going to be done within the perimeters of the existing rules of the party.

“The party (DP) has well established constitutional procedures for expelling any member. No member can be expelled without a clear disciplinary procedure. No member can be expelled without a fair hearing,” he stressed.

The party president concluded that the public should ignore the reports and await official communication from the National Executive Committee of DP.

“I call upon all people to ignore the said false reports. If there is any development it will be announced by the National Executive Committee,” he concluded.

Nakiwala who is also a member of the DP National Executive Committee is among the four opposition figures who were appointed to Cabinet by President Yoweri Museveni.

Other opposition members appointed included Uganda People’s Congress Betty Amongi to the Lands, Housing and Urban Development portfolio while Uganda Federal Alliance party President Beti Kamya took the Kampala Capital City Authority.

Another UPC member Ruth Acheng was designated for state minister Fisheries but was later withdrawn after an immense pressure from NRM leaders from Lango sub-region.
