Man Arrested for Stealing Dam Construction Company Vehicle

Police in Kabale has in custody a 28 year old suspected car thief.

Alex is said to have worked with another group of people still at large to steal the vehicle belonging to Muvumbe Hydro Uganda Ltd, the contractors of the Maziba dam construction.

Maate says that on 10/8/2016, unknown people stole a Black Noah Vehicle, registration number UAX 374 V from the company parking yard in Kizinga village, Kaharo sub-county in Kabale district late in the night.

The owners reported the matter to police prompting investigations into the case. It was later recovered from a garage in Kisoro.

Further police investigations led to the arrest of Byamukama who is said to have driven the vehicle to the garage in Kisoro district.

“We are going to investigate this case and arrest all those involved. Our people should desist from acts of unlawfulness and concentrate on development,” said Maate.

Maate says such crimes are rare in this region and thus police must stop them from spreading.

The suspect, Byamukama says he was tricked by some people who claimed to be security guards of the company who hired him to take the vehicle to Kisoro garage for repair.

He says they agreed to pay him Shs30, 000= and he took on the task not knowing that the vehicle had been stolen.
