Former Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) boss Maggie Kigozi has been named the best investment promotion ambassador for the year 2017.
Kigozi together with other outstanding investors were awarded at the investor of the year ceremony held on Friday June 22, at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
During the ceremony, a number of local and international investors were awarded for being exceptional in creating new projects, providing jobs and successfully implementing what they had planned as agreed upon with UIA.
In her speech, UIA Executive Director Jolly Kaguhagire said the awards were intended to appreciate, recognize and interact with the investors so that the Authrity can understand their challenges and how they can be helped.
“This is our final function for the investment week where we put aside some time to meet our investors to discuss how we can improve the investment sector,” Kaguhagire said.
She applauded the winners for continuing to strive for the best and continuously making great contribution to the economy of Uganda by providing great services to their customers and providing jobs to a big number of Ugandans.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda asked the investors for the confidence they have in government saying it has their best interest at heart.
“This awarding ceremony is very important because it gives us a chance to interact with you. We have put in place the infrastructure to help you do your work better because you are the biggest contributors to this economy,” Rugunda said.
He asked more investors to take part in the competition next year as a way of evaluating themselves against the competitors.
