Lord Mayor Lukwago Turns 46 in Police Confinement

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago today marked his 46th birth day but without much merrymaking, approved as he remains together with a number of opposition leaders under close monitoring by police.

Following their purported plans to antagonize the impending swearing ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni tomorrow, capsule the politicians including FDC Presidential candidate in the last elections Col. Dr Kizza Besigye have been placed under confinement in their homes.

Born on this day back in 1970, here Lukwago said today that he wished he had the luxury of marking this special day more appropriately.

“I was on the brink of flipping the lid and vent out my anguish… but then I reminded myself that great icons of civil liberties like Mandela did not have the luxury of celebrating such memorable events in one’s lifetime for over two decades,” he said.

The only special moment the Lord Mayor had for his anniversary he says, was a hearty phone chat with his mother Hajjat Salma Nakayaga early in the morning, who told him that she had placed the controversial matters concerning his maltreatment by government in the hands of God.

The lord Mayor was also visited by some of his friends and colleagues including Mukono Member of Parliament Hon. Mp Bakireke Nambooze, Hon. Moses Kasibante, some KCCA councilors, city mayors and a score of other friends and relatives.

These brought along some presents for the Lord Mayor to sooth him through the special day.
