The Uganda Tourism Board Executive Director Steven Asiimwe is slated to lead a team to train locals living around the equator line in Mpigi district, cure http://cotro.com/wp-content/plugins/fusion-builder/shortcodes/fusion-recent-posts.php to maximize the benefits from the numerous people that visit the area.
Asiimwe said time had come for the people in the community to realize the tourism potential in their neighborhood.
These he said are set to be trained on how to make crafts and producing other items which they can sell to the foreign tourists that flock to see the equator line mark.
“There is gold at the Equator; it’s not physical but invisible which makes it even more valuable. I will come back with my team and we will train the community on how to make money from it.
Asiimwe was speaking at the first ever Equator Expo in Mpigi district on Monday which will go on up to Friday.
Meanwhile, speaking at the event, Tourism Minister Hon Godfrey Kiwanda promised to find ways of putting rubber humps in the area to deal with speeding vehicles on the high way.
