Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) in partnership with the Livestock Development Forum on Thursday launched the 3rd Uganda livestock named “Ishaazi” and heritage show that will take place in Kampala District.
The show is slated to run from 15th to 19th November 2017 at the KCCA Grounds Lugogo and will be under the theme “Promoting Urban Livestock Farming for Employment”.
Joy Kabatsi the Minister of State for Animal Industry told press today that annual show aims at promoting modern livestock farming practices while preserving Uganda’s heritage through improved indigenous breeds.
“The show presents an opportunity for exhibiting farmers, service providers and the general public to showcase their breeds, to promote and sell their products and services and to learn entrepreneurial skills and networking,” the minister said.
Hon Kabatsi added that the exhibition will range from cattle to goats, sheep, piggery, poultry, fish, agro- tourism and many others.
“We expect the show this time to present a unique experience as the city is a central agri- business hub where major farmers converge, reside, work, sell or buy their farm products and services”
The last livestock and heritage show was held in Jinja.
