Lira United’s Enterprising Youngster Dreams of Playing at URA FC, Europe

Ojera (7) dribbling past Maroons players

Juliet Kyomuhendo, information pills a Software Products Sales Executive with Ubongosoft LTD emerged winner of the Etihad Airways Valentine’s competition after a raffle draw held on February 3, 2016 at the Capital FM offices in Kisementi.

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, in collaboration with Capital FM and Yas Island Rotana Hotel, offered Ugandans a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to Abu Dhabi through a joint Valentine’s Day campaign.

The competition, which ran from January 11 to February 3, 2016, saw thousands of people try their luck at a chance to win a love trip.

Elated by her win, Ms Kyomuhendo could not hide her excitement. She said the win meant a lot to her and she looks forward to experiencing a different country and culture.

Kyomuhendo, who will be accompanied on the trip by her brother said, “I am so overjoyed. I cannot wait to travel. The day of the trip cannot reach fast enough. I am grateful to Etihad Airways and Capital FM for this opportunity.”

To participate in the competition, listeners had to tune in to Capital FM’s evening drive show programme daily between 3.00pm and 5.00pm to answer trivia questions about Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi to stand a chance of winning the prize of two air tickets and a complimentary stay at the Yas Island Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi from 12 to 15 February.

“As part of our brand promise of taking Abu Dhabi to the world, we are delighted to give Ms Kyomuhendo an opportunity to experience Abu Dhabi at this special time of year,” said Toyin Alaran, Etihad Airways’ General Manager, Uganda.

Abu Dhabi is one of the world’s largest and increasingly popular leisure destinations with a wide variety of attractions to suit all tastes.

Based on Yas Island, the Yas Island Rotana Hotel is just a few minutes away from a number of local attractions including the Yas Marina Circuit, where the Etihad Airways Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix takes place; the Yas Links Golf Club, the Yas Marina, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and Yas Beach.
Lira United enterprising youngster Joakins Ojera has expressed his delight in playing in the second ranked league in the country and taking part in the Uganda Cup where his team was eliminated in the round of 64 by topflight side Maroons FC.

Ojera played the entire 90 minutes of the game scoring one of the two goals by Lira.

“At 17 years, side effects featuring for a team in the big league and playing in the Uganda Cup is a plus for me. It’s the beginning and I will fight for more, ask ” Ojera told Chimp Sport after his man of the match performance in the loss against Maroons.

The former St. Juliana SS and London College student was always a thorn in Maroons defense. He scored the first equalizer four minutes to the break with a classic header that left Maroons defense with no other option than to pick the ball from the back of the net, this site off Danish Kwizera’s in swinger.

The youngster had three other close attempts denied; two of them forcing Malyamungu to stretch to his limits while the other was swept off the line by Allan Anguyo late in the second half.

“I have been playing football for long and my ambition is to play outside Uganda in a better league though I have a soft spot for URA FC locally.”

Ojera was responsible for the last minute own goal by Anguyo which forced the game into shoot outs. His current coach, Francis Jolijo is not short of praises for the youngster saying that,” Ojera is very talented with a good eye for the goal. He plays with a lions heart, never fears opponents no matter who he is facing like you saw him running around Maroons defenders. I think he was the most fouled player; that tells you his ability.”

Ojera’s strong points

He adds that, “Ojera doesn’t like losing at least he will struggle until the end. He is fit to run 90 (minutes), good ball control even in tense situations, excellent in the air, positioning and attack minded. He doesn’t fear taking the ball to the opponent and a good ball player too.”
