Tension is mounting at UMA Show grounds in Kampala as FDC candidates battle for the various top leadership positions ahead of next year’s general elections.
The campaigns which kicked off Friday afternoon witnessed more of name-calling and sullying of the enemy camps.
Hon Kassiano Wadri who is vying for the party Secretary General post, cialis 40mg doctor http://colosseo.com.br/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-ftpsockets.php accused his main contender Hon Nandala Mafabi of contributing only to the disunity of the party.
He warned the delegates that choosing Mr Nandala would be equivalent to burying the party, and that regional leadership imbalance would be a devastating blow.
“We the people of Northern Uganda are vying for just one post in FDC [Secretary General]. If you don’t give it to us, we will be rendered irrelevant,” he stressed, as delegates booed him.
Earlier Mr Mafabi exhibited muscle with the entire house chanting his name and hoisting him across the room.
He said in his campaign speech that he would work towards causing unity and cohesion in the party, adding that he had learnt a great deal from the damage he caused when he challenged his loss against party president Mugisha Muntu in 2012.
Hon Odonga Otto who was vying for the same SG post stepped down and asked his supporters to vote Hon Nandala Mafabi.
He questioned the current leadership under President Mugisha Muntu for killing the steam created by Col Kizza Besigye.
“When I was an active Member of FDC during the times of Besigye, we were vibrant. I used to command the activists on the streets. Then you people decided that we kill the activism and vote for the gentlemen. Where are the gentlemen taking this party now?”
Meanwhile, another contender Hon Nabilah Naggayi Sempala had earlier bowed out of the contest in protest of the irregularities that marred the just concluded party grassroots elections.
Leader of Opposition Hon Wafula Oguttu also stepped down and asked his supporters to vote the outgoing SG Alice Also as the new FDC Vice president Eastern Uganda.
