The Electoral Commission has made adjustments in the roadmap for the Kyadondo East MP by-election, search pushing forward a number of activities including the election date.
The voting which was previously scheduled for Monday June 26th 2017, will be held on Thursday June 29th.
The EC in a Monday afternoon statement said the changes were caused by a ‘technical problem,’ which resulted in the delay to finalize printing of the National Voters’ Register for Display for purposes of the ongoing electoral programme.
“Accordingly, the Electoral Commission has found it necessary and taken a decision to revise and adjust the dates for some activities under the ongoing programme,”read part of the statement.
Other activities affected include the Display of Voters’ Register which was moved to May 31st – June 12th from May 29th– June 7th 2017.
Also the campaigns which were supposed to run to 23rd June 2017 will be concluded on June 29th.
Other activities will remain on the dates that were published earlier.
The head of the Electoral Commission Justice Simon Byabakama appealed to the stakeholders in the election to “take note of the above revision and adjustment, and to participate in the activities in accordance with the guidelines for the by-election.”
