The Electoral Commission has Tuesday rolled out the roadmap for the Kyadondo East Constituency MP By –Elections.
The vacancy of the directly elected area MP occurred following a court nullification of the election of MP Apollo Katinti (FDC).
The election results were challenged by NRM’s Sitenda Sebalu, page flagging a number of irregularities such as exclusion of certain results from the final tally and also errors in tallying.
The head of the Electoral Commission Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakana says he received the court notice on 2nd May 2017 to organize the by elections within the constitutional 60 days.
He therefore announced the program for the by –elections as follows;
The Electoral Commission will hold a stakeholders meeting on Monday 22nd May 2017 at Wakiso district headquarters.
Update of the national voters register will take place on 22nd -26th may 2017. Currently Kyadondo East has a total number of 68731 registered voters and 93 polling stations.
From 29th May to 7th June 2017 is when there will be the display of the voters register in Kyadondo East Constituency from 8;00am -6;00pm.
The nomination of candidates shall be conducted on 30th – 31st May 2017, cost at the office of the returning officer, Wakiso district.
Campaign meetings shall be held for a period of 21 days, from 2nd – 23rd June 2017 and must be conducted only within the stipulated time, that is from 7; 00am -6;00pm.
The elections will then take place on Monday 26th June 2017 at all polling stations in Kyadondo East constituency and shall start at 7;00am -4;00pm.
