Kyabazinga Aniversary Unchanged Despite Death Of Bukooli Chief

Busoga kingdom have refuted claims that the second anniversary of Kyabazinga William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope Gabula IV have been called saying that is baseless and divisionary propaganda that should be ignored by loyalists.

However, the kingdom spokesperson, also minister for information in Obwa Kyabazinga Owek Andrew Ntange clarifies that however much the kingdom is saddened by the death of the royal chief who was meant to host the Kyabazinga and Busoga in his chiefdom, all was set for the celebrations of two years of Gabula on the throne and therefore they will be honored.

“We are all mourning and grieving for our father who has been instrumental in handling the affairs of Busoga and a onetime acting Kyabazinga during the turbulent period when there was no substantive king following the death of Henry Waako Muloki between 2008 and 2014 but his death does not change the date when Kyabazinga Gabula IV was enthroned,” he said.

Mr Ntange says that the anniversary celebrations is a function for not only people in Bukooli but the whole of Busoga and its neighborhood which has already been prepared and can’t therefore be halted or reversed by any  eventuality in Busoga that does not affect the person of the Kyabazinga himself.

He noted that the kingdom will immediately after the anniversary celebrations announce the comprehensive programme for the sendoff of the fallen chief.

Mr Ntange applauded Moslems for the generous heart of giving and sharing during the celebrations held on Monday to mark Eid adhuha and urged them to maintain the same spirit that ignites love and unity in
diversity.

There were also some complaints from some section of the royal family in Bukooli about the proposed function saying the late Kaunhe who according to them was an imposter hereditary chief had stealthily okeyed the   function without their knowledge and consent.

The group is led by a one Daudi Kibubuka who claims to the right royal chief and had advised the kingdom administration to halt the programme until a consensus on the same is generated.

But Ntange downplayed the complaints saying the Kyabazinga is at liberty to do anything at anytime on his land even without consulting anybody.

At the venue of the celebrations, there are a number of activities on going including free health camp where thousands of people received free medical care on various illnesses and complications including eye screening, cancer screening, dental services and antenatal care among others.

The state minister for gender and cultural affairs Owek Joyce Abaliwano says the turn up at the health camp had two implications.

“It’s either that our people are being raved by a number of illnesses and therefore the situation is pathetic or embrace of the Kyabazinga anniversary ceremony and love for their king” she said.
