More than 200 residents in Koboko Municipality, which is represented by Investment state minister Evelyne Anite, today held parallel Independence Day celebrations to protest against lifting of the presidential age limit.

As Anite was being lifted shoulder high around Koboko Town, the rival group comprising youth, elders and students organised a parallel march in the town while also clad in the popular red ribbons.

Baraka Kole, a protestor, said: “Our people are poor and we shall not allow to be led by old people because we need peaceful change of leadership. We don’t support this lifting of the age limit because even the value for money has gone low.”

Another youth, Metaloro Ali, said: “We did not send Anite to go and represent our views on age limit but to address our challenge. Museveni should step down peacefully and leave chances for others.”

As Anite was carried on the chair through the town, the rival group also carried placards denouncing the age limit.
