Kitara FC Win Petition Over Bumate, Promoted to Big League

Airtel Kitara FC celebrating with the trophy after the competitions committee ruling.

Airtel Kitara football club has been promoted to the 2016-17 Fufa Big league after winning a petition against Bumate FC.

Bumate initially triumphed over Airtel Kitara 6-5 after penalty shootouts in the regional finals played on Sunday 26th June at the Christ Schools ground, seek Nyahuka in Bundibugyo district.

The game stalled at 2-2 during normal time.

The Hoima side filed a petition with the regional competitions committee contesting the eligibility of two Bumate players Vincent Kasoki and Junior Bokello.

“The two had featured for Kasese New Villa in the 2015-16 big league season, ” one of the Airtel Kitara officials told ChimpSports from Fort Portal after the ruling.

“Bumate produced a release letter from Kasese New Villa clearly showing the players had transferred in the mid-season window.”

According to the regulations a player cannot transfer from the 1st (UPL) and 2nd division to a lower tier side during the mid-season transfer window. The committee therefore ruled in favor of Airtel Kitara FC.
