Kisoro Woman Shot Near DRC Border

A 42 year old woman is battling for life at Mutolere Hospital in Kisoro district after she was on Sunday morning shot by yet to be identified thugs.

She was taking 8-year old sick boy to Kisoro Hospital when the assailants found her.

Edgar Akankwasa the Kisoro District Police Commander says they were immediately informed about the attack and were gathering intelligence that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.

Hajji Shafique Sekandi, discount the Kisoro Resident District Commissioner says there is an abnormal presence of fire arms in Kisoro district which explains the numerous cases of armed robberies and gun related murders.

“As the security committee we sat and resolved that the police headquarters deploys officers to come and investigate these cases thoroughly.

“Last week 13 people from Kisoro district linked to different robberies and murder cases were arrested by the Police Flying Squad that took them to Kampala for further investigations,” Hajji Sekandi said.

The RDC suspects that the insecurity in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo could be the source of the guns being used in Kisoro district to commit crimes.
