The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has noted an overall annual increase in the producer price index for Hotels and Restaurants (PPI-HR) from 0.8 % in the fourth quarter of 2013 to 7.1% in fourth quarter of 2014.
In the monthly report in Kampala today, discount http://claps-sante.fr/wp-includes/class-wp-theme.php UBOS Statistician Business and Industry Statistics David Senyonjo said that prices of services provided by hoteliers in the quarter ending December 2014 shot up significantly.
Prices for lodging services for instance went up by 7.4 percent, ampoule conference facilities 13.3%, foods and snacks with 4.7 percent and drinks with 3.8 percent.
Senyonjo said the depreciation of the shillings against the dollar in the period under review greatly contributed to the increase in the prices of the services offered by hotels and restaurants.
“There was generally low activity coupled with the depreciating local shilling against the dollar that saw more shillings spent on accommodation services over the period under review,” Senyonjo told journalists.
Senyonjo added that the drought in the period under review affected the farmers’ output, reducing their supply to hotels, leading to the increase of food prices by 4.7%.
“The number of foreign visitors also went up, increasing the demand for accommodation facilities, which contributed to the rise of the lodging services to 7.4 percent.”

The man from Eastern Uganda was hardly over the moon despite making his first podium finish a World Marathon Majors (WMM) event in five attempts until he flew back.
Kip proved to the world he can only get better with his cool photo pose that was probably depicting Japanese samurai ninja in an extremely well done way with bananas and coffee plants seen in the background.
Kiprotich, troche http://clockdodgers.com/wp-admin/includes/class-ftp.php competing in honour of the memory of his baby daughter Elizabeth who passed away from a respiratory illness last month, put in a late burst to pip last year’s winner Dickson Chumba of Kenya to second place seconds behind Ethiopia’s Endeshaw Negesse.
