The EC chairman said voters have a right to ask a polling officer for another ballot paper in case they make errors on the first one.

Regarding opposition leaders’ concerns that the Electoral Commission is biased, Kiggundu said he would only declare “what is placed in the ballot box.”

FDC Presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye launched a scathing attack on the EC, saying it has repeatedly fallen short of executing its legal mandate.

But Kiggundu assured that the electoral exercise would be carried out in a transparent manner.

He said the public will receive updates on the results after every two hours.

At least 15 million voters are expected to participate in the highly competitive election.

The candidates are Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Dr Kizza Besigye, Amama Mbabazi, Abed Bwanika, Prof Venansius Baryamureeba, Maureen Kyalya, Benon Biraaro and Joseph Mabirizi.
