Conservative Party (CP) Chairman John Ken Lukyamuzi has rushed to the Kampala High Court seeking to block the forthcoming General elections on grounds that the Electoral Commission recognized his rival faction headed by city advocate Daniel Walyemera
Lukyamuzi together with his Secretary General Ssemusu Mugobansonga sued the Electoral Commission with claims they were excluded from the ongoing electoral process which he says might disfranchise other CP supporters.
Lukyamuzi and Mugobansonga claim that Walyemera and his faction were never elected as leaders at the party’s delegates conference and they don’t reflect the views of CP delegates.
He now wants court to issue an injunction against the EC from conducting the general elections set for early next year until his party wrangles are heard and settled.
Court has not yet fixed the date for hearing the application for the interim injunction against the EC.
