Uganda Premier League defending champions KCCA FC and telecom company Africell have revealed that they will hold a charity event in Mubende district at the Mubende Referal Hospital this Saturday.
In a press conference held Wednesday morning at StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo, Club Chief Executive Officer Josephine Namukisa confirmed that KCCA FC staff and players will visit the hospital to donate beddings and clothes to the patients.
“We as a team, the leading football club in Uganda, when we were approached by other companies to go with them in Mubende, we welcomed the request because it was part of our objective to reach out and help the needy in the society,” Namukisa said.
“We not only want to play football but we would also want to combine with our fans and all the people out there to make a difference in the society.”
ChimpReports understands that KCCA FC has been collecting bed items, clothes, and shoes among other materials from their fans since July 2 and now the club has also teamed up with StarTimes, Radio Simba and Africell for this major cause.
Speaking at the conference, Africell Media Communications Manager Emmanuel Kabugo, said: “As Africell, we are ready to work with Radio Simba and KCCA FC and we are giving out Shs2.5 million to help. We will be there for 2 days.”
Creative Diretor for Radio Simba Jimex Odongo also added: “When we reached Mubende Referral hospital recently, we found many patients having no blankets and we therefore saw the need to extend our hand.”
Simba FM who will be celebrating 19 years of existence will also have a friendly match with KCCA this Saturday at Kasenyi Play Grounds in Mubende.
StarTimes who were represented by Aldrine Nsubuga revealed their package of 150 Blankets to be given out on the day.
