Juliet Nalukenge(R) celebrates after scoring against UCU Lady Cardinals in last season's final

With just a few days to the start of the Fufa Women Elite league, several teams are making final preparations ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Defending champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies Football team tested their credentials against Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals.
In a repeat of last season’s final played at the Valley ground in Kawempe on Monday, the two sides settled for a one all draw.
Youngster Juliet Nalukenge gave Kawempe Muslim the lead but a late goal from reigning Fufa female footballer,Hasifa Nassuna against her former team ensured the game ended in a draw.
The centre of attraction in the game was the trio of goalkeeper Ruth Aturo, Yudaya Nakayenze and Hasifa Nassuna returning and playing against their former team Kawempe for the first time.
The visitors started the better side showing dominance but failed to break through a composed and resilient Kawempe Muslim defence line.
Even the times they went through, goalkeeper Juliet Adeke was able to clear the messes and the first half ended goalless.
A few minutes upon restart, Juliet Nalukenge broke the deadlock with a clinical finish.
The diminutive forward lashed onto a Sharon Apon ground pass and her effort at the near post was too strong for goalkeeper Ruth Aturo to save.
UCU Lady Cardinals made changes with Teddy Najjuma and Sharon Achieng coming on  for Cathy Nakiridde and Adams Kemigisha respectively.
Kawempe on the other hand also made changes. Brenda Nakayenga replaced Stella Musubika, Sharon Naddunga came in for Amina Nababi while Naziz Florence replaced Apon Sharon.
With about five minutes to time, Nassuna levelled matters tapping home a long ball from Yudaya Nakayenze past onrushing goalkeeper Juliet Adeke.
This was Kawempe’s second friendly game in a space of four days. On Friday last week, they defeated Uganda Martyrs 3-1 with Nalukenge scoring a hat trick.
The 2017/18 Fufa Women Elite league is expected to kick off this weekend.
