20 people accused of participating in the murder of former Police Spokesperson AIGP Andrew Kaweesi, his bodyguard Kenneth Erau and his driver Godfrey Wambewa, have been remanded back to Luzira Prison pending further investigations.
Prosecution led by Caroline Opia yesterday requested Nakawa grade one magistrate Noah Sajjabi to allow them more time to finalize investigations so they may have the accused persons committed to the International Crimes Division Court for trial on charges of murder, terrorism and aggravated robbery.
Apia informed court that investigation are still at an infant stage and that court should grant prosecution chance to conclude them and have the accused committed.
Magistrate Sajjabi adjourned the case to 13th/July 2017 with orders that the accused be remanded back to Luzira prison till then.
Like in the past sessions, relatives of the suspects were locked outside court premises to avoid chaos.
The relatives as usual hurled bitter words at the court officials, terming the act of locking them out as unfair, as many of them walk long distances coming to see their relatives at court.
