Kategaya Widow, RDC Fight Over Lyantonde Farm

A bitter altercation erupted on Tuesday morning between the Lyantonde Resident District Commissioner Mr Tiguragara Matojo Salongo and the widow of the former Deputy Prime Minister the late Eriya Kategaya.

The RDC who was flanked by police said he had come to check whether or not the property of the late Kategaya was being mismanaged by the family. He believes there are plans to sell off part of the farm.

The widow claims Mr Tuguragara was paid a lot of money by Late Kategaya’s first wife Joan Kategaya, who for months has been fighting for the farm’s ownership.

Joan, whose lives in her marital home in Ntungamo was the official wife of the deceased Minister.

Both wives were left with different property by Kategaya but the first wife was not contented.

Last year according to Police, she ordered a raid on Diana’s farm in Ntungamo, where 70 cattle were grabbed and taken away before being intercepted in Kampala en route to an abattoir.

Diana told off the RDC, that she would have to be killed that watch him and Joan try to touch her children’s property.

She further told Chimpreports that the RDC has been using his own Link FM in Lyantonde to send out threats to the managers of her farm.

“This in fact is not the first time he is coming here. He comes in the night at 2 am to threaten my workers,” she said.

“Just recently I fought him. I grabbed his t-shirt and we were separated by the (Regional Police Commander) Maxiwel Ogwal. He is the one who saved him.”

Mr Tuguraga refused to give us a comment on the accusations. “I will bring this matter to an end; until then I cannot comment,” he said.
