Ugandan striker Davis Kasirye finally featured for his new club Zesco United in the Zambian Premier League.
Kasirye earned a perfect debut as his team earned a 1-0 hard-fought win against Lumwana Radiants in Solwezi on Wednesday.
This was the first time that the lanky forward was playing for the Zambian giants since making the move from Motema Pembe from DR Congo a fortnight ago.
Kasirye started the game and featured for 55 minutes before he paved way for Maybin Kalengo.
Kalengo also another debutant went ahead to score the lone in stoppage time to help Zesco United secure all three points.
The powerful forward tapped home Jesse Were’s cross in the 88th minute a result that propelled the Zegalaticos to second place on 35 points just two behind league leaders NAPs United but with two games in hand.
Kasirye intimated to ChimpReports that he was happy to make his debut at Zesco United and only hopes for a better future.
“I’m happy that I played my first game here and it was a good start because we won. I pray and hope that this will be a foundation for me for the next games,” he said after the game.
The next game for Zesco United will be at home (Levy Mwanawasa stadium) in Ndola against Nakambala Leopards.
