Kasese: MPs Quiz Gen Katumba, Tumukunde, Set to Meet Museveni

Parliament’s committee on Defense chaired by MP Judith Nabakooba, cheap http://commongroundwi.org/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-base.php which is currently  investigating the recent clashes in Kasese is set to meet President Yoweri Museveni over the same.

The committee has since Wednesday been meeting heads of different security organs that took part in the operation which ended in the arrest of Omusinga wa Rwenzururu, what is ed http://chimpreports.com/wp-admin/includes/misc.php Charles Wisely Mumbere and left dozens shot dead.

The committee was recently charged by parliament to investigate the issues that transpired in Kasese between November 24 and 27 and come up with a report that will be presented before the house for discussion.

On Wednesday, the committee met CMI and ISO bosses and the former Minister of Defense Chrispus Kiyonga who also hails from Kasese.

The same committee has Thursday met the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), Gen. Katumba Wamala, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Maj. Gen. Jeje Odongo and AIGP, Felix Kaweesi who represented the IGP, Gen. Kale Kayihura and the Minister of Defense and Security, Henry Tumukunde.

All the meetings were closed to the media which the chairperson explained was done to enable good fact finding.

“We are basically looking at Kasese or Rwenzori sub region in General trying to dig deeper to understand what exactly happened between the 24th and 27th of November,” Nabakooba said.

“There are a number of issues and we are trying to call different institutions to understand what happened and what were the roles of the different agencies that have been summoned,” She observed.

Nabakooba remarked that the committee is interested in understand who took the lead, how many people died and those that were injured hence knowing what practical recommendations that can be provided in the report.

“We are setting off to meet the exact people that were affected by the clashes in Kasese tomorrow; we are going to meet different stakeholders including the MPs form Kasese, the district security committee and other officials from within the sub region.”

“When time comes after conducting inquiries from all relevant stakeholders, we shall write and request to meet the president over the same.”
