Hearing of the case in which four police officers are accused of torturing Kamwenge Mayor Godfrey Byabakama didn’t happen today at Buganda Road court as scheduled
The four suspects who are out on bail appeared in court together with their lawyers led by Simon Peter Musangara but the state prosecutor Harriet Nakigozi informed court that investigations in the matter are incomplete.
Buganda road chief magistrate Jamson Karemani adjourned the matter to 11th July for mention, sale and also extended the bail to the same date.
The accused are ASP Patrick Muramira, abortion ASP Fred Tumuhairwe, Habib Roma (driver) and Ben Odeke. These were charged last month with two offences of torture and causing to grievous harm, which they denied.
Mayor Byamukama was arrested on 5th April at the ministry of lands for alleged participation in the murder of former police spokesman Andrew Felix Kaweesi and taken to Nalufenya police where he was brought to be taken to case Hospital with severe injuries of torture.
