Kamuli, Kataka to Contest in Eastern Regional Finals

Kamuli Park FC and Kataka FC are through to the finals of the 2016 Eastern regional playoffs finals following an identical 1-0 wins in their respective semifinal games played at the Mbale Municipal stadium on a chilly Monday afternoon.

Kamuli Park 1-0 Busia United FC

The first game of the day kicked off at 2PM featuring an experienced Kamuli side against the ‘shy’ side.

Abdul Shampul utilized one of the many wasted chances early in the 35th minute connecting in from Samuel Ssemugugu’s low cross from the right flank.

Abel Keya had miscalculated a long ball directed to the Busia box skewing to the right where Semugugu calmly received and raced behind the defense that lapsed to recover before sending in a low shot to the scorer.

Kamuli kept their cool and used experience to frustrate their prey with tactics from Sadolin coach Musafiri Swamadu who acted as an advisor to the technical bench.

In the second match, hospital Aziz Nambobi needed miracles of lady luck to convert a second half penalty past Paul Mwaumbali to salvage the home fans hopes of promotion.

Kataka’s topscorer Nassur Nandala had been brought down in the box by Paul who earlier on failed to hold on Lusimbula’s tricky left foot cross.

Aziz stepped up and shot at the right post but was lucky when ball rebounded on the keeper’s back and crossed the line.

The finals will be staged on Thursday with only one spot available for promotion to the big league.
