Uganda Premier League side, Kirinya Jinja SS Football Club have unveiled Hamza Kalanzi as their new head coach.
The Jinja based side confirmed Monday that Kalanzi will be their new coach on a two year contract agreement.
Kalanzi put pen to paper on Monday at Jinja SS in the presence of club chairperson, Diana Nyago and club patron Frederick Ngobi Gume.
The soft spoken coach joins the school side from relegated side Lweza FC where he survived in the capacity of interim coach until they got relegated.
He had served at Lweza as assistant coach to several tacticians including Ibrahim Kirya and Julius Mutyaba.
He replaces Abbey Bogere Kikomeko who helped Kirinya Jinja SS survive relegation last season serving in the capacity of interim coach after Alex Isabirye had thrown in the towel.
Kikomeko has been transfered and will now head the club’s youth programmes. Zungu Hassan will deputise Kalanzi while Hannington Kalyesubula remains as the goalkeeping coach.
Kalanzi stated that he is happy to join Kirinya Jinja SS and is committed to serving the club to his best ability.
“I am delighted joining one of the best football clubs currently in Uganda with good football structures, can’t wait to get started,” said Kalanzi.
“Kirinya Jinja SS is one football team with great potential and I’m committed to working here.”
New club CEO, Ahmed Kongola believes Kalanzi is one of the best coaches in Uganda and will help to propel the team to greater heights.
“Kalanzi is one of the few talented football coaches with vast experience in Ugandan football every team would wish to have as their head coach, we’ll give him all the necessary support and backing in execution of his duties,” he said.
Kirinya survived relegation by a whisker last season and will hope avoid the predicament this season.
